I do a lot of mountain climbing, trying to get all the peaks.

Giant Eagles have a consistent tendency to tear out your throat when you sleep on a mountain, so you want to get a few Z levels down before you sleep.  Luckily they don't kill you quick enough to stop you from taking them with you. Several critters will attack you if you sleep near a chasm on a mountain.

Water and food are a problem if you don't like blood and vomit.

One of my adventurers is going through a massive Goblin tunnel system, and often sleeps at the top of bridges, where he gets the most air and protection. It's the only way to tell what time it is, and how long he has been travelling. It's also the only way to enter travel mode and see if I can get out.

I hate tunnels. Sometimes they hit a pit and I have to turn back.

When I sleep I just usually sleep on the road. I have never really had much difficulty when dangerous animals ambush be in my sleep, I just get up and chop them in two.  Then again I've never been ambushed in my sleep by anything bigger than a cougar, I have some megabeast size crap wandering around as wildlife, getting ambushed by one of those could probably make the nap permanent quite fast.  Maybe I should start hiding before I sleep.

To solve the water problem I usually try to carry around more than 1 waterskin. When I'm doing a no T challenge I'm often carrying 4 or more full waterskins. Food I also carry extra of, but usually no more than 10 units, indeed it is rather easy to find vermin, and if you are going on a long trip you can stockpile and store them just like food.  Pixies are my vermin of choice.  I imagine them refilling my hearts every time, just like in Link.

(...What you thought they just restored his health and flew away?  Ha!  They have been stolen from their friends and families with some big net soaked with insect parts, locked in an airtight glass bottle that smells like rancid Lon Lon milk with a long dead bee in one corner, in some obscure pocket in link's tunic for lord knows how long.  They most certainly would not be friendly after that, if even still breathing.  You never saw them fly away after he grabbed them in the original link did you, DID YOU?  They just decided they needed to be a bit more PC as of late in regards to the fairies.)

You will be allowed to eat them when you are starving.

*cries* WHY GRAMMER LORD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN THIS PERSON!?

On a slightly more on-topic note, I sleep in human towns when I can, usually in the beds that the tavern has to offer. (Why do taverns have beds anyway? its not like a corrupt clon visits them...)often...

Scenery is far too repetative for the most part, except on occasion.

It takes me ages to walk around in Adventure Mode, even in towns I'm going at a step-beat of 1:4. (For every 4 steps you take as normal, I take 1).

Sleeping also takes ages - 5 minutes to rest? No thanks!

Other than that, I really enjoy Adventure mode. I remember one time I was trying to get to a hidden Elven valley, whereas I had to cross mountains... I died of thirst, after being about 10 steps or so from a river. I was so sad - I spent about 30 minutes of walking and fighting chasm creatures.
