Stopping All Caravans == No Immigration?

Frustrated by a Dwarven caravan leaving before I was able to trade, because everyone was busy building pyramids, I decided to try to stop all cravans from coming.  I succeeded, by removing all of the active season statements from the entity files.  Eg, [ACTIVE_SEASON:AUTUMN].

Now, this would probably be bad to do during worldgen, because it is also the season of attacking.  However, it occurs to me that in doing this before the first Dwarven caravan ever arrives, that all immigration might be prevented.

Has anyone tried this?
