"Page File is too small"
« on: December 27, 2009, 03:51:00 pm »

"The page file is disabled, or the file size is too small.

To make the game work correctly, the page file of minimum 2GB is required. Please make all necessary changes to the system configuration before launching the game again."

I got this while launching STALKER:Shadow of Chernobyl for the first time. What do I do to fix this and why is this?

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Your page file has been disabled somehow. The remedy for this problem is not consistent across all versions of windows, so it is necessary to know which one you're running.

Good. Right click on My Computer, and go to Properties. In the menu bar to the left, go to Advanced System Settings.

In the window that pops up, under the Advanced tab, there is a section labeled Performance. Click the Settings button in this section.

In the window that pops up here, go to the Advanced tab. In that tab the second section is called Virtual Memory. Ideally, this should be 150 percent the size of your ram. Click the change button, and set the size of the Virtual Memory to 3072 Megabytes (three gigabytes), and you should be set.

I'd uncheck the "Automatically.... for all drives"

and manually set page file on drive C: for over 2GB.

Well, this could mean that DF doesn't react well to page files being on another partition then expected. If the effect is replicatable, it's definitly a bug.

He's talking about Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. Not DF.
