Adventure Mode Challenges
« on: December 27, 2009, 04:13:25 pm »

I've noticed the amount of "Challenge" threads, and I figure, hey! Why not have a thread dedicated to various Challenges in Adventure mode? Dwarf Mode has one, why shouldn't Adventure Mode?

So let's come up with ideas, people!

TONIGHT I DINE IN HFS
Open up (For most fun a FIERY) HFS in fortress mode, hide some adamantine gear somewhere on the world. Train up to Ironbloody status and go ballistic on HFS. After when If you should win, sleep in the HFS, eat and drink there too. Afterwards dump your adventurer into the pit so he may cleanse HFS.

by ironbloods beard this is a horrible idea

DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

Dungeonmaster

Slay at least one of every creature belonging to the semimegabeast and megabeast categories. For additional points, collect the bones and have them made into jewellery.

Kobold Challenge!

Locate and depopulate every one of their caves without any prior knowledge of their location.  (Kobold locations must not already be revealed)

Au Natural
Start with no skills. Immediately drop everything you own. Your inventory is to remain empty at all times, and any items put into your inventory are to be dropped (NOT thrown) as soon as possible. Kill a megabeast.

Hard Mode: Do it without training swimming or ambushing.

Nightmare Mode: Through use of an abandoned fortress, do it completely skillless.
Please don't actually try this last part

"I went through the biggest deathtrap in the world, and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt."
In Fortress Mode, design the most elaborate trapped fortress you can come up with, and at the end of the maze, or puzzle-fort, have a T-Shirt waiting (if it's artifact, better; adamantine, why not?).

Optional: Have an end-of level switch that destroys a support that reveals a path out of the fortress, or at checkpoints for the next adventurers to take on the challenge from where you left off (checkpoint-wise). Be sure to have pressure switches that also are weight-activated (heavy stuff for some, so you may need to move statues or something).

Be sure the T-Shirt cannot be moved. Leave it in a cabinet or coffer in the prize room for when you abandon fort. Be sure traps can be activated in Adventure mode before taking on this mission.

Seek out and kill a bronze collossus using a whip as your weapon (that also means no throwing or firing things)

For the fluff!
Mod fluffy wamblers to be playable (not vermin) and kill a Megabeast.

'C' for Classy.

Make a skill-less adventurer. Kill someone with equipment and take an item listed at letter 'c' from his corpse. Use that as weapon, kill next another. Grab the new 'c' item and toss the first one. Repeat the process until you depopulate the town/retreat/hall/cave at which you started.

Throw yourself down a Chasm?

Well, then go on with what you have in your hand until you're able to pick other 'c' item. Even if that's the Sandy Clay of DOOM.
