good talk

good to hear that; Toady likes new content as aposed to polishing, there maybe back storys and self designed characters, demi gods and paupers.

I haven't been able to get any vomit this release. Not any I can pick up, at any rate.
Swans, too. Swans are complete bastards.

It is that Polishing for the most part isn't in a way doesn't add any content.

He is going to polish his work no matter what happens.

So I can understand why he isn't very happy with polish suggestions dominating the top 10.

As for splitting the board into two. I don't know. I have seen many people confusing Alpha/Beta with the real game.

Toady is in a tough position. This is all he does now, and he's entirely dependent on our donations. That means we, the players, must enjoy playing the game. This, of course, is (usually) directly proportionate to the level of polish, especially when trying to sell the game to a new player.

In a lot of ways this year has proven people are willing to donate money to something that doesn't really quite "exist" yet. It's always weird to donate during a period like this, as we're not quite paying for a product, nor are we really investors in said product. It'll be interesting where DF goes in the future due to the 2009 results...common sense seems to say that Toady should now have the confidence to take the game in whatever direction he likes knowing he has a steady stream of money. But as the game gets more popular there will be less and less people that are ok with that.

Hmm. I dunno. This is a tangent, but that was my thought process when I heard that part in the interview. Polish vs. content is not a new problem in the world of game development, but in the world of indie donationware...it'll be interesting to see where it goes.

We'll just install floodgates near the houses of the snobs, and replace their light-switches with levers... ;D

I'm fine with the bit of polishing he does now, like with the statue details he added in a while ago.

Yay transcript.

So this whole thing was fairly awesome I have to say.

Heck, he introduced the show!  :)  The show just isn't the same without him!

That's another thing that's massively broken in adventure mode right now, the whole criminal type of thing, stealing and all that kind of thing, it's like when you steal a psychic message is sent out to everybody that you're a thief and the guards come to kill you.

NOBODY thought to yell out suddenly "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM"???   Such a wasted opportunity. :(

*Excerpt  of deleted content*

Rainseeker:  STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!

Toady:  (Laughs outrageously)

Capntastic:  You are a comic genius Rainseeker you are my comic hero!  But we should delete this part because someone somewhere will die from laughing outrageously!

Rainseeker:  Okay.  (Sighs sadly)
