I've had a bunch of dogs die from old age, which has filled up a bunch of coffins.  What really kills me is that I had a real dog lover who snatched up dogs as soon as they were available for ownership, so multiple dead dogs were hers and she's gone into temper tantrums.  I just wish dwarves had better ways of dealing with grief than destructive temper tantrums.  Moping and refusing work, praying in a chapel, anything besides destroying stuff and having fist fights because old yeller got too old.

It would be nice for dead pets to have a different effect on dwarf mood depending on how they died. If a dog dies of old age, perhaps the dwarf wouldn't be as sad if a dog dies from an elephant attack.
