First, a question: are you going to post updated map soon? I can't see a map with the home hexes and the gods yet.
Now, a description of the specie. I am still missing that.
Dictionary
Lintok: Lintok in older languages means "everybody", in a time when no other sentient creature was known and is now used for the specie as a whole. With the discovery of the other sentient species of the planet the word Lintok took its current meaning and the other races got the name of NeLintok, "not belonging to the Lintok". An individual is called Lintoki while a group of individuals is Lintoke
-tak: suffix that indicates power over something. i.e. Lintok-tak, the person who has power over the Lintok.
Lintok-tak: the chief of the tribe, literally "who has power over the Lintok". As the name suggests, during his reign he has absolute power over all other Lintoke. Shamans can, however, take his power away should the gods be unpleased about the current leadership. This position is elective and anyone, except shamans, can be elected Lintok-tak.
Lintoke are , on average, 1.7 meters tall , with 2 legs and 4 arms, divided in upper ones and lower ones. The upper arms are the primary ones, stronger and used to do the heavy jobs, while the lower ones are thinner and weaker, but more suited for works that need precision, since the fingers have one extra joint, for a total of 4 phalanxes, and the last finger is opposable like the thumb, which allows finer works. This second pair of hands seem to have developed its features recently, while before they had another normal pair of arms, used equally for running and fighting. The closest relatives of the Lintok who live in the nearby forests, wild and unintelligent, Still have the "old" arms. For this reason, strong lower arms are considered bad aesthetically and thinner ones are a sign of beauty.
Their hair rarely grows beyond the shoulder and is usually cut with a V shape pointing downward on the neck;Lintok elders take pride in the length of their hair, since long hair is thought to be sign of wisdom.
The feet have 2 big toes each, ending with a bone-like claw which helps stability and allows to climb trees more easily, showing their origin as forest hunters.
Now, however, meat is just a small part of their diet, largely replaced by the fruits , plenty of which can be found in the forest they live in. Due to this abundance of food, everybody used to just harvests what he needed, when he needed it, except for the tribe chief and the shamans, who are given food by the other Lintoke. This worked until recently , when population growth forced the Lintok to cut the nearby trees to allow more huts t be built, and the higher number of mouths to feed meant that it was needed to walk farther from the village to gather the needed food. This problem was solved when the Lintok started to introduce in their diet the fruits and plants that grew on the ground, instead of just the fruits that grew on the trees; they started to bury the seeds near their homes and below the trees in the nearby forest and some of them grew in new plants. This was the first, shy, attempt of agriculture. being able to plant below the trees and in the village increased the food available greatly, allowing for a further icnrease in population.
Socially, they are a simple specie, with a tribe leader, the Lintok-tak, with nearly absolute power, but without the right to pass his/her power to his/her children. Instead, a new ruler is elected by the Lintok. Furthermore, the Lintok-tak's power is limited by shamans who can, if they find it necessary, strip the leader of all his/her power and begin a new election. During the time between the old chief loses command or dies and the new election, which has to be made in the day when the sun is highest in the sky ( Summer solstice) , the shamans hold the power. Other than the shamans and the chief, there isn't yet a strong hierarchy, but the bigger importance given to some jobs rather than other suggests that a new social ladder may develop in the near future.
The village is built in a small open area in the fortress, in which the trees were cut by the Lintok and their wood was used to build small, simple, wooden huts in which they could find better shelter; in the past they used to live on the trees but this left them exposed to rain, wind and lightning and most local trees aren't strong enough to build huts on them. The only exception, and most prominent feature in the village, is the tree around which the entire village is built; this tree, several meters wide and three times taller than any other tree in the forest is rumored to be the original nest of the Lintok. In the night its top glows with a faint green light, with lines of glowing bark going down on the surface of the tree almost arriving at the ground. For these reason, they believe that the tree is a manifestation of a superior power, whose will has to be interpreted by the shamans. The shamans and the Lintok-tak live on huts built on the branches of this tree, which they reach by a ladder of wooden sticks planted in the wood, raising in spiral to the top of the tree. Nobody else is allowed to live on the sacred tree.
Their language is quite simple with weak syntax and a not very rich vocabulary, but it is improving very quickly.
They value work very highly and those who work least are considered social outcasts.
After this
short( still missing parts about religion and the militia) description, I have no time to write the roleplay for other actions, so I'll just write them and delay the roleplay to the near future ( tomorrow maybe)
