You leave the skeleton room by going south and then continue west along the hall.

You're at another intersection. The hall still continues west, but there's a side passage north.

Rick suddenly feels a tingling sensation, as if someone had leaned over and whispered in his ear "you have entered a maze of twisty little passages, all alike."

Sorry, puzzle senses tingling. Use charcoal on wall to draw an arrow pointing back the way we came. Then continue west.

You charcoal the wall with an arrow pointing east.

You head west.

You are in a hall continuing to the west, with an intersecting hall north and south. As you walk into the room you notice that the floor feels strange - hollow? You back off of it as soon as you step on. But you'd need to pass across it to continue in any direction but the one you came.

To the west is a ramp leading down into darkness.

I just started a Link to the Past save named DONGS. Coincidence? I think not!

EDIT: Thanks, rickvoid!

Ha!

Hey Leo, you've inspired me to run one of these once this one ends.

Just thought I'd mention it. This is really well done.

You charcoal the wall with an arrow pointing east.

You head north into a hallway that soon rises steeply.

There is a stone doorway at the top (N) sealed by a slab. Above the doorway is a carved statue of a hawk-headed man with a hooked staff held across his chest. Above him is a huge carved sun arranged so you think it's supposed to be a hat or something.

Take the staff if we can and examine the sealed doorway

Looks like the staff might be part of the statue. But it's worth a shot, you decide.

You walk up and try to climb the wall to get to the statue (which is above the door). The stone is smooth and doesn't have many seams. You'd need a grappling hook tied to your rope - there isn't anything sticking out far enough to lasso.

Since you're totally not doing anything (you lazy bum!) you go over your mental map of this place.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And take stock of your Inventory:

1 Bota Bag (Full of Oil)

I don't feel like reading so...
Make another bone knife, except with a blunt point and a sharp edge.

You sit down and try to make a sharp edged bone knife. It's pretty hard without any cutting or grinding tools to start with. You spend a lot of time scraping the knife against rough things and manage to make a sort of cutting tool.

You test it out on a piece of rope. Some time passes. You give up, and estimate it would take half an hour to cut through a rope.

You sharpen it again and try cutting up a dead snake. You have to really work at it and the skin shreds too much to use for anything.

You sharpen it again and try slicing kindling off a piece of wood. Again, it takes a long ass time and you stop before getting very far. It's faster just to take a rock and smash the wood until it breaks apart. It's pretty dry.

Check out those holes in the walls, and examine the glowing skulls closer.

The stone faces are carvings set into the walls. Their eyes glow blue and you feel like they're all staring at you. The eyeballs are a molten blue texture that shifts slowly. The glow they give off is each the same light level as your Engraved Lighter, but collectively they light the entire hallway south of the circular stairs until the hallway turns (the faces are only in that section of hall).

You head south and check out the hole in the wall at the corner of the hall on Level 3. Yep, hip-height, two inches across. You shine your torchlight in there but it isn't bright enough to see very far in.
