Found out about it on the penny-arcade message boards. I orginally just looked at the screenshots and thought it was a weird ascii side scroller, Until I actually read the game discription... then boatmurdered :P

It was interesting. Someone said "plump helmets" on civilization fanatics forums and added "do not ever google it if you don't want to lose your sanity". I googled...

Unlike most I found it rather interesting how the game was build entirly of ascii characters.

I saw a friend play it on his laptop, and as we had nothing better to do he explained how those beardy faces were dwarves how they would build, craft, murder and die.

Read boatmurdered that afternoon, downloaded it that evening.

Still using ascii after more than half a year, though I did make a nice 16x16 one as the aspect ratio of the original one bothered me.

First heard about it through /tg/, first learned about it through a buddy, ended up playing it after a second buddy got me to.

I was on gamefaqs and saw a bloodline game, I read that (it was boring) and it kept referencing boatmurder so I looked that one up, read it all night and waking my wife up a few times from laughing. Downloaded it the next day and have been hooked for a year now.

I don't see how is it related to a porn. I was expecting some dwarf-based game with those as food.

I found it in PC Gamer magazine (The free games edition). At first I didn't like it from the screenshots (Thinking the site finding screen was the actual screen), but then I tried a tutorial and got right into it!

A friend of mine in University showed me the game back in 2D. I played off and on for a while, getting some other friends involved in it. Then I read boatmurdered, and got back into 2D even more. When 3D came out I relearned everything that was different from 2D and have been playing ever since.

In truth I can not remember how I stumbled on it the first time. Tried it once but I was getting something like 1fps with the starting 7. Didn't get the game and then left it be dispite finding the Wiki...

I then upgraded my PC, read an articel in PCPowerplay (PC Gaming Mag) and then tried again, found out it rocked like crazy on the new pc and haven't stopped playing since...

Damn, I have 121 dwarves and I'm getting 19-30 FPS.
