smaller islands
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:32:00 pm »

So i've been looking for a nice deserted island to make a home and try my hand at survival on, but all of the islands are too big, the center of the island never has any ocean touching it so essentially if you settled there, you would have no way of even identifying that you were on an island at all

the only way to simulate it is to live on the "edge", and that doesn't give that nice circular feel

i was wondering if it would be possible to have the world generator occasionally generate islands small enough to fit the whole thing in one local view, so that you could live on a little tropical paradise, regardless of the difficulties.  i dont really mind if its inaccessible to immigrants or merchants, i would just love to have a little island fort to call my own =(

I've seen islands like this, a bunch of local-map tiles sitting in the water all alone, usually next to a larger multi-screen island.

So, they do happen, they're just uncommon.

=(  i've generated 15 worlds in the search for an island home and haven't found any yet =/

if you can find a seed that has one i'd LOVE to get it, and would be very appreciative!

The wiki has several volcanic island seeds listed on that page.  Maybe on of them is what you're looking for.

I have a one tile volcanoe for an island. I'll be playing there shortly. I want to see how terrible the frosty tundra is first. Who needs stone when you have ice, right? Ice smelters, ice furnaces, ice magma workshops.

I was very disappointed to find that too. We want islands that fit on one region!

Sorry, I've generated and discarded a bunch of worlds, and I've no idea which one it was on.

Tho I'm pretty sure I saw atleast one on a huge freshwater lake, and just poking around now, spotted..

..on the local map, which might be islands in a fresh water lake.

They're not. Looks like they're connected on the corners.
