This thread, and just about every other 40d thread, has been dead since the release. Dunno why you're bumping it.

I'll be watching this, if it ever comes back to life.

Didn't someone else make a new Tower Fortress with .31's new 100+ z-levels?

Eh, I didn't really pay attention to that skyscrapes fortress.

Yeah, I was kind of inspired by the Talltower fortresses. One thing I didn't like, though, is the fact that even after 10 years, Talltower 1 is only 4 z-levels tall. Skyscrapes is more focused on building upward, rather restricting each player to their own floor.

Yeah, I hoped I would fix that with Talltower 2, but alas, the new version calls.  Still, glad to see that my gametype lives on after my passing.

Wouldn't you need to dig out at least the same amount as you build up, though?

Digging is super-easy, though. Miner approaches rock, creates floor with rock right there. Masons have to walk to the rock, pick it up, and then walk to the construction site and build it, plus designating constructions is a huge pain. Hence why people rarely bother building anything fancy upwards.

But since I note that there's talk about the new version's height in here, I'm starting a tower competition in a week or two focused on taking advantage of that! Do take a look whenever I get the thread up, fellow tower aficionados :D

Yes. What I meant was, it's difficult to have a very large tower, because at the very least, you have to have as much down as you have up.

Anyway, I'll sign up for a turn. I shall build Talltower to new heights!

If this many people really wanna keep this game going, I guess I'll keep it going too.  Just give me a few days to be done with finals.
