If only life had history pages.
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:04:36 pm »

I have my homepage set up as the wikipedia random page and this morning it gave me this monster:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustave_(crocodile)

"He is a notorious man-eater, who is rumored to have claimed as many as 300 victims"
I'm not sure I like when dwarf fortress and reality intersect. It even has a name!

You will find they do that a lot, it is just that without the legends mode, it is a lot harder to find out about it.

Do you honestly think that elf would have challenged that dragon if he had known the dragon had a few hundred kills to its name?

I knew someone who was part of the cleanup crew after Hurricane Katrina and he said they had a killer croc very similar to this Gustave. He would munch on the dead bodies floating around. :)

Well, it's good recycling principle.

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Unofficial slogan of Bay 12 Games.

The comedy site Cracked did an article that included both Gustave and the brown bear incident just recently.
Gustave is pretty terrifying. In fact, he's 20 feet of terrifying.

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.
