Racking up heat too fast?
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:51:48 pm »

No matter where I go with my leader (except a place or two), the place's heat meter starts racking up quite fast. It's been at least three months since that phenomenon started, and I haven't been very aggressive at all. Just a couple of raids in that time. Is that a bug or am I really doiing something wrong? I had a few crashes here and there, so perhaps some trigger got 'stuck' in the wrong place or something. ???

Also, the CCS finally attacked and captured one of my apartment hideouts in the university area. My leader was alone, but was so badass she could kill or wound at least 5-6 goons. She was wounded (no permanent scars) but managed to escape. Thing is, I'm getting the feeling they're still charging rent for the lost apartment. Could be wrong.

EDIT: I think the heat build-up might be related to the rampant CCS, since an experiment of mine (staying in a particular place while heat built up) triggered a CCS raid, not a police one. Couldn't stop them earlier and can't stop them now. So I need to find ways to deal with that. Both the Congress and Supreme Court are Elite Liberal, so the country's going down a great road, which means I can't afford to be wiped out at this point.

How effective are booby traps? I'm kind of in the dark about hideout investments besides the documented stuff like the printing press.

Booby traps are wonderful, possibly even imba. WELL worth the investment, for sure. They totally paralyze anyone who walks into them.
No idea what "fortify the compound for a siege" does.
generator keeps the lights on and keeps your map up and running.
security camera lets you see enemies on map.
business front makes you harder to see

Food... I can't see the point of waiting out a siege. It's not like they pack up and go home or anything, right?

Heard something like that. Some questions:

1) Is the building improvement permanent or does it disappear after a siege?
2) Where are the traps located once combat begins? Sprinkled around the map like loot and, in other buildings, cages and equipment?
3) In combat, do they vanish once an enemy team hits them?

1) Permanent if you win. Unless they get destroyed by bombing or something?
2) Sprinkled, but seem to be concentrated in the enemy path
3) They vanish until the next combat.
4) No one, and I mean no one, has ever regretted buying booby traps prior to a siege. Except for those who think it makes the siege too easy. Just do it and see for yourself. You won't regret it. Oh. Except it won't save you from tanks.

I was just curious. Tank traps are the ones, obviously, useful against tanks. But the CCS never get tanks, do they? :o

But the CCS does get car bombs, and tank traps will prevent them from pulling a truck close enough to your safehouse to detonate one in range.

I tried out defending with "fortify the compound for a siege" and without it. And I can't tell the difference.

Can anyone help me out? What does it do?

It can kill or injure your people without giving you a chance to fight back.

Right now it dissuades enemies from forcing you to fight. Which is pretty useless at the moment.

So it's essentially the same effect as a tank's?

No siege, just boom, some of your guys are dead, pick up the pieces. It's not as cool as it sounds. What would be cooler is if the CCS launched a mini-attack right afterward, and you had to fight or flee with injured people. An animation would also help, but animations for LCS are far out of my range of expertise. Any suggestions on improving them are welcome.

So it's the same as the snipers then.

OK, during the siege fight, I set up a front line of fighters who were slightly more disposable. Eventually, something bad happened, and 1 died. Guess who jumped in to fill up the ranks?
You guessed it, the program just went to the very first name on the list. My *FOUNDER* jumped into battle! OH NOES!

Could we have it so that we can set a first squad, 2nd squad, 3rd squad for this?

Not in the middle of combat. If you're really unlucky, it's possible that someone will get shot and killed by soldier A, your leader goes in, and your leader get's shot and killed immediately by soldier B.

It seems that molotovs during sieges are a good way of killing off the entire LCS in 1 fell swoop. BOO!!!
