Half Life 2: Dwarf Fortress
« on: November 05, 2007, 06:16:00 pm »

Lazermaniac and other SA goons made this in HL2 Garry's Mod.
I don't have anything to do with this, I just wanted to be the first to post it.

Haha, wow...  Now I've got to find out how to play HL2 in multiplayer.

Good stuff.  It's amazing what happens when people discover they have too much time on their hands...

Hahaha, that might be part of my doing. I found the wonders of Dwarf Fortress from Facepunch Forums. A forum for the Half-Life 2 Modification 'Garry's Mod'. I went back there after being here and created a MEGA-THREAD. There was a short amount of time were Dwarf Fortress became quite a fad.

That's because, in Garry's Mod, everything is made from objects that are in Valve's Steam games. If you look at the dwarf's shield, you'll see that it's a cymbal. By the looks of the fishing pole, the reel is a glass bottle.

So it's like a 3D modeler where you can't make your own mesh surfaces or textures but you have every item ever used in a Source game for solid primitives? ...Cool.

Wow, those look amazing. How did you manage to do the beards? Should we start a 'Dwarf Fortress' Steam group?

Not quite that simple, Alfador. You also have a load of other tools to play with, such as different constraits, thrusters, wheels, hover-balls and of course the source physics. It's surprising to see everything people can come up with, just given the tools.

BigwigML made the models and he said that they "are made mostly out of buckets, milk jugs and soda cans".

Great, now I'm gonna have to get lamarr as a pet in df :P

hmm you could use those to replace large rats - they hide everywhere, spring out of ambush and randomly take out people  :D

the spinning bb round hits jack johnson, scumbag in the lower body!
it is pierced through entirely!
his right kidney has been poked out!
his liver has been mangled!

jack johnson, raider has been shot and killed.

The above (including bbcode) neatly weighs in at 255 characters. Fallout meets DF
