Hostile caste of domestic creature

I've been learning about creature modding and castes by making some silly creatures, and I was wondering if it's possible to have a domestic animal in which one caste comes out hostile - I'm trying to make a third caste of cows called "mad cows", with the appropriate syndrome attack. I know that creatures born of tame animals come out tame also, and I've determined that this is true regardless of whether the baby animal has the [PET] tag or not. I've also determined that if any caste of an animal type has the [EVIL] tag, none of them will be available on embark (because dwarves don't have [USES_EVIL_ANIMALS] or whatever it is, I'm guessing). So, does anyone know of any way to make this happen? My current test fort just had its first mad cow born, but so far its [LARGE_PREDATOR], [LIKES_FIGHTING], and absence of [BENIGN] tags have had no effect.

I mean, I think the offspring of tame animals are also tame, and tame animals don't hurt dwarves.

Right-my question was whether there might be some combination of tags that could at least partially nullify the tame status. I seem to recall that animals which had previously attacked/killed a dwarf would still periodically try to fight after taming; I wondered if there were some similar mechanism that might be exploited.

just give them a secretion syndrome or something. it should affect your dwarves regardless of hostility.

Yeah, I know that's an option, but my goal was to have it be a bloodthirsty enemy in itself. I already understand syndromes pretty well.

In short, no, its not possible. The whole tame vs. not tame thing is hardcoded, so other than say a secretion syndrome there isn't anything you can do.

Oh well.

Regarding the whole "can't really tame an animal that's tasted blood" issue, does anyone know if it's A) still true in 31.18, and B) specifically coded for or simply a side effect of the same game mechanism that causes loyalty cascades?

I am pretty sure it's the 'friend/foe' determination algorithm. Once a creature is attacked by some 'civilization' creature, it becomes an enemy of that civilization, and you cannot clear this status (yet). I guess when we start to get diplomacy arc updates, it should be changed.

i tamed a named blue monkey and took him out of his cage. he killed some people. very FUN
