Parkan
« on: March 16, 2010, 10:50:17 am »

How many people have played Parkan? I mean not the "Parkan 2" or "Parkan: iron strategy" (very good game), but "Parkan: Imperial chronicles?"

Also if you want to mod it i have some tools...

I think you've got the wrong forums buddy, try this one.

Thanks for noticing. Read the first sentence ("You can discuss our other games here") and missed the second.

It would really really really really help if someone told me what 'Parkan' is.

I'm going to guess some sort of generic WW2 RTS?

It's a space exploration game. Basically a FPS+space sim. You travel around space and shoot enemy ships, but you also can connect to theirs ship and kill the crew or land on planets and take them over. Graphics is a "bit" dated: 2.5D - 3d world, but enemies and planets are sprites (or billboards).

The russian version is more common, but there is also an english one.

That looks incredible. Does it need an emulator of some kind to run?

I don't remember if it's old enough to require DOSBox, but if it's already a Windows app, you'll need a very old Windows or heaps of luck.

I liked Imperial Chronicles, Parkan 2 just wasn't the same.

Where can you find this game? It sounds awesome, but I can't find anything but the russian version.

Now that I've looked, yeah, it appears you can't really get the english version now. Darius, if you have the english version, be sure to let the others have it.

Unfortunately i was looking for it till i gave up. Have two russian versions. Memorised positions of save and load to play the game :D

After extracting the data i found that english lines are included but have no idea if it's possible to switch versions.

Parkan 2 was released in (Bad) English and was pretty fun if repetetive and confusing.

That looks interesting. I remember another game like that, Alpha Storm: http://www.mobygames.com/game/alpha-storm
Does it have anything to do with this, or is it just similar?

It's not related, but released the same year and generally similar. I might get it to see how it compares. Doesn't seem to have the trade and construction aspect of Parkan though.

Yeah and verrryyy hard to find that alpha storm. On the other hand now that i searched more for parkan it looks like English version is only a legend.
Here is something interesting Of course all links are dead as nikita changed it direction from game making to cheap melodies and java games for mobile phones
