Stranded II: Now with Multiplayer
« on: March 19, 2010, 03:32:53 pm »

Anyone who's ever played Stranded II has probably thought how awesome it would be to play with other people online. Whether it be building a village cooperatively or competing for resources on a deserted island, It's all possible now with a mod made by two members of the Stranded II german community.

The first beta was released on Jan 30th so It will definitely have It's share of bugs and problems but as far as I know It's playable. It's very basic now and probaby pretty shitty but it's worth a look.

Here is the topic in the Stranded II forums:

Here is the download page: http://www.oraclefile.com/index.php

Here is their website: http://www.royalfile.de.vu/

I know there's already a few threads on Stranded II but I thought this deserved it's own anyhow.

Stray kitten has been struck down.
(killed by a guy with a shotgun)

I always found Stranded II to be too easy. But then again, unless someone can mod it into DF, it's the only game where your character refuses to eat a bone("No way, I'm not gonna gnaw on a bone like a dog!"), but will happily eat his own feces. And then vomit.

I have not played Stranded II before. Is it good? If I can eat my own feces, I will definitely download it when I get home tonight. It's freeware, right?

We need Deon in here, pronto. He made a gorgeous map and mod for singleplayer, that if he replicated some stuff we could have more than just shitloads of fun. We could have... super shitloads of fun.

Yea, I hope Deon sees this. His map was great. I'm pretty sure his map can be quickly made to work in multiplayer. They had a long talk about how to make maps for this over on the stranded II forums and it seems pretty simple. I don't think he'll have to actually remake anything.
