What do the version numbers mean?
« on: December 09, 2007, 09:46:00 am »

DF 0.27.169.33c is the number I am referring too.

All the numbers have been going up since the first release

My guesses as to their meaning:
The 0 probably refers to the alpha status of the game. It will go up to one in the distant future.
The first number, 27, refers to the number of "core components' completed
169 refers to the number of "required" items completed.
33 is the current build, and goes up only if one or more core components or bloat items have been added. My first though was number of bloats completed, but there seems to be far less than 33 actually completed.
The letter(c in this case) refers to different versions of the current build, which fix bugs in the current build but do not add any new content.  This number is reset with new build.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before,  I did a forum search and couldn't find anything on this critical issue.  :D

After further inspection of the developments page, they obviously refer to the number of core/req/bloats,  sooooo forget I ever posted this....

I was actually going to look into this myself, so you've saved me about ten minutes of looking. Thanks.  :D
