Oh well than I will be In still if that is okay... what is the deference between a ship captain.. what whatever else there is?

Of course you cans still be in! Ship captain is kind of solo, it's like a character basically. A corp can command multiple ships and stuff, own factories and planets, etc.

Will captains get a bonus to certain rolls? IE, a corporation should have no trouble managing internal trade, but I would expect a slightly weaker fleet led by a captain to have a moderately high chance of winning a fight over a leaderless corporation fleet. I'd also expect captains to be better at exploring.

Er who would want to be a captain than? Can a captain lead other players ships to give them the bonuses?

They can't even lead a fleet? I don't see how being a captain would be fun, if all they can do to upgrade themselves is to switch to a bigger ship once every 20-50 turns or so.
