how about giving obsidian a more obsidian-like colour?
Right now it looks grey like the cheapest stone (gabbro, schist etc)
I think it should look more like this:

Just a FYI.

This version of the mod is already out of date.

DF version 0.31.08 came out on the 19th of July and Phoebus updated his/her mod on the same date.
