Well, slaying Forgotten Beasts seems to be a somewhat common pasttime among the subterranean people.  Damned if I know why, but I'd guess the big, fleshy beasts are too slow to hit them, and easily punctured by a well-placed spear stab.  Having one duel two more immortal ones for months at at time seems to be a unique case for me, though.

Cave Swallowmen are, in fact, guardians of the Dwarf Fortress world, able to manipulate the fabled RAWs at will. Modifying creature files and descriptions at their whims, they have given themselves both arms and no arms. They are said to be sent from Above, from the Twelfth Bay of the Internets (that is, heaven). It is said that they keep order where there was none, strike down the Bugs of old, Nerf the legendary +elf bone bolt+s spoken of in the ancient tales, and keep company with the angels themselves - Morul, the angel of wisdom and labor, Ironblood, the angel of war and battle, and Cacame, the angel of feasting and vengeance.

Introductory Dwarf Fortress Theology?

The stuff that nightmares are made of.

The multiple instances of Cave Swallow Men being awesome proves this to clearly be true.

Shouldn't Cacame be fasting and vengeance?  After all, he's completely sworn off cannibalism.

Then again, fasting isn't an actual sphere tag, the rest of them are...

How 'bout revenge and rulership?  After all, he is a king.

I have never been more munchie about Dwarf Fortress. Currently in College doing a report. This, is, so, awesome.

Sure you cant copy your game and by some means copy Ásax's file and make him avaible by anyone in the Dwarf Mods page? I would so like to download the legendary Ásax, slayer of beasts and the most noble cave Swallowman ever. Im in ave. Build him 10 statues around a coffin, engrave the stones and clear the chamber of stone. Then screenshot with his remains. also try to put his weapons in there. That would eb so awesome and it can go on the wikipage

I'm particularly moved by the plight of the dwarven race in this story.

that wiki page should probably be replaced with a short paragraph and a link.  Also lol at arkenstone's math problem, I'm about to take a final next week for a graduate complex analysis class, and half of it is basically figuring out impossible integrals with e's i's and pi's goddamn EVERYWHERE.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

You know, I think it's not a bug that he named a hundred spears... It's just that every time he struck, the spear would break, and a new one would be created out of sheer spiral awesome energy.

I have been trying to think of a new race for a mod I have been making. They were going to live in mountain homes like dwarfs, and be able bring cave animals to trade. I think I will make this new race cave swallowmen, but they will be called "The Disciples of Asax."

I think people keep forgetting just how young Asax was. Draw me a picture of a *young* cave swallowman, not some blue, beefy hunk with feathers on his arms and a beak.
