As for me, I have been sick and lying in my bed all day long and half asleep the day before. When I totally woke up, it was about 01:00 am here and I then checked the usual internet-stuff...

Various social networks - nothing important
Dwarf Fortress - HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the Dwarf Fortress release was awesome squared, I had slept all day, so I could play all night and in itself it was already freaking awesome.

What's your story?

I had a feeling DF2010 would be released on April 1st as kind of an anti-joke. Where the joke was on the people that didn't believe it, simply because it was April 1st. I was right.

I got up on the 1st at around 8:30 and checked the forums. I saw that a couple of people had started threads talking about how the newest version had been released. Naturally, I assumed an April Fools joke. I checked the dev log, and saw that Toady had released it. It didn't totally sink in until I started Arena mode.

Did my usual morning routine and cycles through my bookmarks.  Downloaded DF2010.torrent a couple seconds later.

Checked the devlog at school.
It had apparently ceased to exist, so I checked the forums.
Amidst the epic lagfest, I noticed that the new version was out, but was disappointed that there wasn't a mac version yet, so I wouldn't be able to play it for awhile.

Well, it was April 1st, around 11am or noon. After taking a shower to get ready for work later in the afternoon, I tried to get onto the DF forums... and tried again, and again. Apparently they were being crushed by traffic, so I figured the new version was out. I popped over to the wiki which luckily had a torrent link... I genned a world and started playing fortress mode, but after examining my dwarves, all the plants, and the various minerals my dwarves dug up (so much!!) to see what was new, it was almost time to go to work. The next 6 hours seemed to stretch forever, since I couldn't stop planning on what to do in DF!

I tried to check the devlog. It did not load.

Starting then, I knew. No website goes down without such a good reason.

I checked the Wiki to see if there was any info there. I noticed the mirrors. My brain exploded in happiness.

Turned on com, (1st April, ~2.00pm GMT)

-> Check email, nothing
-> Check D&D forum, nothing interesting
-> Check DF forums, it's down.  Strange.  Skip. 
-> Check everything else I normally check. 
-> I get back to DF, it's still down.  wtf is going on?  I google DF hoping to get a hit on someone asking about it and decided to pop in to look at the wiki in case there's something there... oh... ah, I see, it's out.  No wonder it's down.   DLed from the mirrors and go around to playing.

I went on a roadtrip to see the college I'm transferring to in the fall. I was sitting in the hotel, having just woken up, and started my routine:
- LUE. Nothing interesting.
- Facebook. Nope
- DF - Site's down. That's odd. *refresh a few times* *sees changed site and new release* "YES!!! Too bad I'm on a laptop running Ubuntu. "

Couldn't access bay12, so i knew that either Toady had sabotaged the site as a prank or the new version was overloading things.

Went to hospital in the morning to oversee the birth of my daughter.  Came home at night and checked the DF site to see a new version and new site was up.  Download took a minute or so.  Played for a couple hours, came back to forums to see how others had gone and found that that site had crashed.

I don't feel sorry at all for contributing to that crash....
