There is a bug where the "Handling Dangerous Creature" announcement is given after milking is completed, but it appears to do nothing as my dwarfs go ahead and store/use the milk immediately anyway, and the cow/horse/elf always ends up back in their pen.

Um, about the milking elves thing from earlier...

Elves live in the woods and currently their trees aren't that special.

So what if, as an evolutionary trait caused by their lack of shelter, they could produce milk for children whose parents had died...
What I'm trying to do is come up with a logical reason to be able to milk just any elf. :D

>>;;
And NO, I'm not thinking of weird elven hentai!
I'm thinking of renewable food and fun elven hentai.
:B

I've always had a theory that Elves are actually some sort of tree-things that become full-blown trees at some point during their life cycle.  As such, I think you should be able to "milk" Elves for maple syrup.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Obviously I meant cheese-industry wise  :P
My attempt is pitiful, so I meant I wanted and expected to see others much more awesome/megaproject attempt of it.

I'm seriously considering trying to set up a fortress where the entire food requirement is met by milking and cheese.
You just need to mod in some sort of cheese beer so you're dwarves won't get alcohol deprived.

Eh, it's as good alcohol as yoghurt. Well, maybe a bit stronger :). Not enough for dwarves.

It contains up to 4.5% alch, so its kind of same as beer.
Besides, if dorfs can brew even fungi into wine, obviously they should be able to brew something nasty out of milk.

4.5 for a beer? Are you kidding me?

The easiest beer should be 9%, no less! You're no dwarf, sir! :P

Well you could destill the Kumis further. Thought how you do that without making it undrinkable is another question that i cant answer. Anyone here who owns a still and would try the experiment?
