Well, is the project dead? There's just SO MUCH that could be done in the new version to make DF Pratchett-y.
Trolls made out of stone.
Dwarfs, two factions: one traditionalist, the other one more metropolitan.
Gnomes with bodies out of slate to accomodate their toughness.
Werewolves, zombies, gnolls, vampires, banshees and all the others as castes in the playable civ, maybe? Would be nice to have a truly Ankh-Morpork cosmopolitan feel. Of course, they'd still appear as separate entities.
Wizards and witches would be great, too, although I've no idea how is modding-in magic in the new version doing.
A talking rat civ...

I think someone figured out how to add something a little like magic using castes or at least elementalists.

Create a caste which turns up perhaps 1 in a thousand births which has attributes like being immune to fire and breath fireballs.
I'm not sure how well this could be expanded for wizards.

For Trolls it would be perfect.
You could create a ruling caste made of diamond.

Are attacks in the raws yet?

A doctor/alchemist caste of igors would be cool.

Can races be made extra vulnerable to weapons made out of particular materials?
Elves which can be poisoned by iron would be cool.

For this, you actually need to make the Elves badass. Using vicious scourges and (eventually) riding horrible pale horses, and very, very warlike... quite ready to enslave another race entirely. ..
