Yeah about that; if you are using the version I linked to, remove the bonecarn tag from the sergal creature raws.

For me personally though, I can't seem to get them to spawn anywhere but evil areas. It might be because of the [use_evil_animals] tag. :(

I removed Feral Sergals from the list. They were causing problems with dying and not getting buried properly. Additionally They could not even be memorialized since they had no names! So I had about three or four ghosts wandering around smacking my Sergals upside the head from time to time.

I actually wonder if they would bury their dead at all rather then butchering and using them for food. But if it's the only way to prevent ghosts and such then nevermind.

I don't think they would normally have green or brown eyes. Yellow is also a mutation that canonistically only one sergal has. Eyes are shades of gray/blue.


However, colors for fur have been expanded quite a bit more then just grays/blues/white/black for northerns.

With the CANNOT_UNDEAD tag, I believe Sergals would not suffer from ghostage issues. However, I doubt you could then get them to cannibalize their dead, because that behavior is hardcoded.

Well if it's hardcoded then yeah nevermind. I know they would butcher and eat enemy sergals they kill, but I'm not fully sure about their own dead.

The feral Sergals that died when I had them were turned into meat. But I just cannot stand the inability to control them! Maybe making them a Separate 'wild' faction that is tameable will be the better option here.

I tried swapping out [BONECARN] for [CARNIVORE] And I Get populations of Sergals popping up now! Still their numbers are far too small for how strong they are in scale to other races :<

The [CANNOT_UNDEAD] seems to prevent ghosts from popping up, but I still get the message that so and so's spirit was put to rest if I take a long time to give them a tomb.

Hmm, a lot more variation in the spectrum of fur color I will try to add more. gonna work on adding lengths and more facial dimensions for flavor as well when I get some free time.

So far things are still running pretty smooth, but there seem to be a few sprites missing here and there, diplomats and warlords seem to be lacking them unfortunately I am unsure of how to make and add more :S

First, replace the diplomat and empress segments in the graphics raws (in both the north and south) with:

After that, put [NO_EAT] in the creature raws for worldgen, then remove that tag from the new world save's raws.

And yeah, I'm thinking ferals should be wild animals rather than part of the civ. I just can't seem to get them into a pet caste.

To be fair, it think it's quite flavorful to have ghosts pop up after you eat their bodies, so that you can torment them forever in the afterlife about how delicious their limbs were.

It's not so much rarity of the yellow, it's basically impossible. Even though my own sergalwhatthefuckever has orange eyes, canonistically everyone should have shades of gray-blue.

Eh, dropped it for now greys and blues are the eye colors. Furs can vary from a very pale blue to a charcoal black, as for color variation I decided to keep it more in line with Old Age Sergals.

Facial Features are coming along nicely with small length differences from ear size, snout length and the broadness of the jawline.

I have encountered one large issue in game play that might just relate to DF, I lost the ability to make squads with my captain and my warboss after swapping out some troops when making a new one. They don't even show warboss as a noble/admin option anymore.

I think I've sorted out a decent workaround for the ferals. You don't mind if I add the facial features to the next update?

And I think that disappearing nobles thing is a df bug, because I've had times where the nobles list disappears entirely (with dwarves too).

Grr, manes are being picky.

(good news update!)

Got them working now, but they all start extremely long.

There has been a lot more than just a few lines of variance in length. I had to add both eye brows and eye lashes to the body template, I also had to define that manes are located on the head while the body fur was on the body.
So I pretty much had to redefine and organize the entire body template so it is easier to pick apart. Ill dump the entire modded template to show all the work that I have done so far.

Yes it is a lot to dump here, but this is what I got so far.

Two minor issues with my build, Eyelashes have no description and all manes when your first embark always start extremely long. I am not sure if the Sergals will actually groom their manes and shorten the length manually. But I included the hairs ability to grow and eventually turn gray from age.

Problem with the update, my Sergals have no defined stats! I merely dumped my work on their physical changes.

I think my next big addition to this mod is to make all creatures available to be butchered by Sergals, that will make ambushes and sieges far more productive!
