I've uploaded v1.3 of Direforged. The main change is the addition of the shyhak'ur, an insectile race who consider themselves menders of nature. They're quite work-in-progress, though. Also, there is a python script called direforged_options.py, which should give you a few options to change the raws without having to delve into them - among others, it's currently the way to make the shyhak'ur playable in fortress mode. Please tell me if there are any problems with the script - I've only been able to test it on Linux.

There are also some language changes and material changes, such as making blood materials evaporate on creatures. The manual is unfortunately out-of-date in a few spots due to emergency changes - mainly, astral tears are no longer star silver ore since I found star silver weapons in town shops.

Similarly, Deon's Wanderers mod (refit into Dark Ages) causes megabeast hearts to be sold at the market. This is an old D&D dilemma too. Should players be able to simply buy magic items at the shop?

Early editions say no. Later editions say sometimes.

Also Knight, I am pretty sure adding SPECIAL or DEEP_SPECIAL to metal stops it from appearing in shops/trade. If it's not the case, please let me know.

Yes. It was reported in the Dark Ages thread a while back. I started to freak out, but decided to let it slide. I'm assuming they are not available at every single market, but apparently where they are available, they come cheap!

I haven't tested SPECIAL with my star silver because I wanted to get the update out finally, but it does have DEEP_SPECIAL. Its ore, the astral tears, doesn't though and is accessible, if rare, so I guess that's the problem. It's my understanding that SPECIAL shares the same functionality as DEEP_SPECIAL, so it's unlikely that would change anything.

SPECIAL and DEEP_SPECIAL materials should not appear in any trading caravans/on embarks. If they are appearing in markets, it means there's some kind of a bug or missing requirement.

For example, all of weather cloud materials are SPECIAL, it makes them unobtainable through other means. You could try that tag.

I'll be trying SPECIAL when I get the time, of course, but as I said, my understanding is that SPECIAL's functionality is a subset of DEEP_SPECIAL's, so I don't have much hope in that regard.

Hey Knight Otu, I've been trying to gen a world and having it crash every time at the end, at the finalizing stage.

I'm not sure if it's your mod -- I'm just getting back into the game after a long break -- but I thought I'd check since the Shyhak are implicated in the error log and you mentioned they're new and possibly might have a hitch.  So, here's my errorlog:

As you might be able to tell, I've also got IndigoFenix's Deep Ones mod installed, and, not obviously, Eotyrannus's Saur Fortress too.  So it could be them, but I thought I'd check with you first.

EDIT: Oh, also, I have been using custom-designed PW worldgen file, just in case that matters.

Weird. The shyhak errors are on me, but I don't recall getting error logs for them. I'm using the wrong item token - it should be BLOCKS, not BLOCK. The faulty reactions are in reaction_direforged.txt, right above the section --- Waxmelter Furnace --- if you want to fix it yourself. They shouldn't cause a worldgen crash though. The secret_fish thing might. I haven't looked at the Deep Ones mod, so you might have extracted it wrong - see if you find a secret_fish.txt file in your raw/objects folder.

Alrighty, I'll fix those and check that mod.  Thanks, mang.

EDIT: Yep, sure enough, no secret_fish.txt file in the Deep Ones mod.  And removing it has gotten rid of the crashes.  Problem solved.

EDIT AGAIN!  Nope, I guess not.  I got the crash again, at the very last stage, finalizing sites, and this time (after fixing the things you mentioned) all I got in the errorlog was impoverished word selector.  Hmm.  No idea.

I am quite stuck, I am trying to rescue children abducted by the carmine fey.  I have searched all the trees as far as I can tell but no sign of any prisoners in any of them, does anybody know what happens to children abducted and brought to forest retreats?  The locals and my companions tell me they are in the site but they do not know where, does this mean that the prisoners have been placed at a random location in the site or does the game just not draw them because there is not a dungeon to put them in?

Alright made an account just for this.

I'm having a lot of fun with the mod but I can't seem to get the options file to work.
I got python 2.7.Something and windows 7 is my operating system. Whenever I select the objects folders it considers it an invalid folder and wont let me edit it.
I've tried it for both individual saves and for the main objects folder.
