Nifty!

Wish I'd seen this before I'd make all my new workshops...

It'd be nice if there were able to be multiple dwarfs working at a workshop. Then a 32x32 area workshop, might be really cool, especially if you can make it so your dwarfs move around.

Looking into modding DF? This forum guide & wiki guide may still be a good start!

You sort of can.

Just create multiple workshops with different designs and pathing blocks. Make something like Workshop 1, 2, 3, and 4.

You can now make a "workshop" that can have 4 dwarves working in it at the same time. Its actually made out of 4 different workshops, but they're designed in such a way that they fit together to appear to be a single much larger workshop.

Hey, I have a question about this app, namely, is there any way to keep the background of a tile transparent? Even if it is through altering the raws directly.

I believe that if you use [COLOR:x:0:y] then the background will be black, like everything else, BUT if you use [COLOR:x:16:y] you get a strange transparent effect. Although this is for normal things, not workshops, so I don't know how in workshops.

Yes it is good, but it would be 100 times better if it worked with transparent PNGs :).

Any idea why it hates loading just about anything larger than 5x5? I made some temporary wall buildings and as some are 32x1 it's hard to fix any errors.

Also any idea how hard it would be to allow placing the WORK LOCATION and BLOCK tags in. I get HIGHLY turned around trying to locate my position when the rows and columns are in DF syntax. (such that I was building 16 tiles away when I'd planned on building in the middle of a temp wall  :-[ )

NEW VERSION

  • PNG Transparency support (I think I did it right)
  • It now will work with fonts larger than 16x16 by resizing things so it fits.  Maximum limit is determined by your monitor size
  • Linux binary also included in file.  It's the one without an extension
  • You can now change from "Tile Mode" to "Block Mode".  In this mode, left click sets a tile as blocked, and right click picks the working space.  Working space overrides blocked spaces, though it doesn't do any checks to make sure it's actually possible to path to to work space.  Blocked tiles show up with a red X through them, and the working tile shows up with a green circle in it.  These only show up when the mouse is over the grid, and only when you are in "Block Mode".
  • Fixed a parse error when you had a ':' tile.  Let me know of any other instances where it cannot read valid raw data.  (Remember of course to only have one tag per line, even though DF itself isn't so picky).

sorry to resurrect this, but does anybody have an easy access to the mac version of this? Or perhaps instructions on how to recompile it?
