Odin traded his eye in exchange for a drink from a pool containing all knowledge called the Pool of Mimir. Bricks may have been mentioning on of his other crazy shemes. It certainly sounds like something Odin would do.

Yeah, he decided to hang himself from a tree in order to gain wisdom.  I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I forget when he got the ravens though...  I thought that was one of the bonuses he got for trading his eye.

Man, these gods...  They do some pretty crazy stuff!

I remember reading that the tied-to-a-tree-to-die-and-coming-back-after-three-days thing might be post-Christianization, actually. I can definitely see how Christian influence might have done that.

I noticed something like this while I was messing about with convection in the Arena.  Made the central tower into a giant pot full of water, with magma on all sides and under.  Anything that goes in only melts all their fat, but will never die from boiling (And, indeed, seem to become very tough, since an Ettin was literally fighting and killing 40 great white sharks at a time).

That's likely because fatty tissue in the game melts at such a stupidly low temperature (110degF), and because the fatty tissue melting off doesn't do enough damage to actually kill you.

Of course, a contributing factor is that things don't die when they should due to core body temperature going too high. In real life, your entire body inside-and-out being 110 degrees would be a Very Bad Thing, if not kill you.

As an added benefit, you can drink your own grease after lighting yourself on fire. And maybe eat the fat collecting on your shoes, but all I did was lick it.

It's a continuous cycle of melting fat off and eating it! Never go hungry again!

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

Needs more salt.

From the dev logs it's clear that all internal organs are supposed to overheat -- magmaman mind melds, say.  So what's going on here?  Is the game not removing the entry for the fat, so all heat is supposed to pass through it; but because there is no fat, no heat ever actually does pass through?

Have you invented dwarven aerogel?

Has this been tested? Does it offer complete magma protection?

I tried this, but I keep bleeding out before the bleeding stops.  It's very sad (and also amusing, considering that I am basically possessing random humans and forcing them to self-immolate for SCIENCE!).

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Hm. I'm finding it very difficult to get a full body fat melt. I can get upper body, lower body and head fat to disappear easily enough but bleed out and die when going for more. My technique includes Travelling for blood transfusions between bakings. Any tips, Funk?
