For the modded booze-blood mushroom-kingdom civilization... What happens if one of them gets cut and is bleeding near magma? Do they explode??!

If so, I detect some REALLY fun fortress defenses in my future!

(Unleash the myconoids into a grated tunnel above magma, and watch the goblins hack them to bits and get esploded)

Right now it seems to be spatters of booze blood is the most that can be gotten out of them just yet.

So... Dunno if that's enough to get much asploding done.  Maybe small ones?

Huh... that just gave me a new  idea for my  (apparently eternal) obsession with syndromes.

Blood that boils instantly, but has nasty effects with the gas. Disperses faster, so there's no disease element (you don't want it ALWAYS), but whoever's around  when the creature gets cut is gonna rot pretty quickly.

Hey, I like that idea. what if there's a caste where you get hit by spores when you make them bleed, and you'll cough, get dizzy and eventually have temporary paralysis?

Not sure if I like this for Plump Helmet Men... frankly, the only thing their spores should do to dwarves is make them hungry.

*Looks at a few raw files*

It MIGHT, just might, be possible to make the children vermin, change there tile to a single dot like the rats, and change there name to 'Plump helmet man spawn'.

I MUST TRY IT!

I'm both intrigued and horrified.

One thing is for sure though.  They need to pump out babby.

You know, it's rather appropriate to set their blood to be alcohol, as Dwarves somehow distill alcohol without use of water.  I'm not sure they're actually making anything we'd recognize as alcohol, in fact.  I suppose we'll know for sure if we can some day make Human Blood Ale and Elf Blood Wine...

How about, when you get hit by the spores, you turn into a plump helmet man?

Coughing, bleeding and paralysis, possible.

If your asking for a syndrome to turn something INTO a plump helmet man, you mandating a iron bed.

It would be the best fantasy/horror story ever. You send so many soldiers after them...and all that return are PLUMP HELMET MEN!![/b]

Sadly, very much outside our grasp at the moment.  :(

Say. Are gestation periods modable?

I mean the only possible way to do it would be to have the spore spread to the dwarfs lunges, then have a PHM grow INSIDE the dwarf, then burst open alien style, killing the dwarf.

And that is also imposable to do, but I like getting your hopes up.

Getting my hopes up? Keeping me up all night is more like it :\

I just have this terrible mental picture of this beet-looking thing bursting out of someone's stomach and being like "Neeeeed phosphaaaaates"
