I once downloaded and played it, and I didn't get very far.  Then later I found DC's LP, and I lost a lot of my time to -that-, and now I dare not touch the game again, because my completionism will probably tempt me to get to and do the Hell Temple, and...  yeah.

You can only talk to people in huts.

You need an item to read signs.

You need the hand scanner, and then save up 100 coins to get the glyph reader and that should start you on your way.

Oh get the game master rom as this well allow you to save.

And as far as I can tell you can't talk to people unless they're in buildings.

Sorry to bump this ancient thing but I just ran into a problem in the game, and I'd rather not start a whole new thread for one question.

So in the Temple of the Sun, in the room with the Eye of Wadjet and the chest containing the ankh jewel, somehow that chest has disappeared for me. I've tried quitting and re-entering the game/room, I tried activating the eye trap, nothing seems to bring the ankh jewel's chest back and standing under the eye for 5+ seconds does nothing.

Is this a bug or am I just failing to do something? I remember seeing the chest the FIRST time I went in there, but I think I activated the eye trap without knowing the trick and I left. I came back later realizing that I needed to stand under it but there was simply no chest to be found.
No, I did not already get the jewel.

I hope somebody can help me with this one.
