Dwarf Fortress theme, full guitar tab. UPDATE 22/10/10!
« on: April 16, 2010, 07:11:07 pm »

I've tabbed out the entire main Dwarf Fortress theme, song_game.ogg, which plays during gameplay. I'm pretty confident that it's about 99.9% right, but if you find any errors feel free to point them out and I'll fix them right away. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and you will get credit!

Thanks to the TuxGuitar team for the tabbing software. A big thanks to Toady One for providing some of the tab in an old thread which I started from, and to a greater degree, him and ThreeToe for giving us Dwarf Fortress and the theme itself!

The tab for dwarf_title is also up, it's a great piece and is relatively easy to play.

The tab: (song_game)

Update 22/10/10: Switched to Dropbox for the filehosting, and fixed an error in the naming of the TXT for song_game.
Update 28/05/10: Fixed stuff at the end. Edit: Totally screwed up uploading, fixed now.
Update 14/05/10: Added the tab for dwarf_title, tweaked song_game. The text versions of each tab need to be polished, any volunteers? :)
Update 13/05/10: Mini update; one note corrected.
Update 08/05/10: TONS of changes around the end, the fingering has greatly improved. It is less awkward now. Edit: Reversed one of my changes.
Update 22/04/10: A couple of minor corrections.
Update 21/04/10: Several corrections and fingering changes around the end.

Nice. Now to learn how to read tabs and play the guitar!

Nihilist Novice Guitarist has been estactic lately. He has observed a masterful Tabulature. He has practice guitar recently. He has recently sleep in a decent room. He is getting tired of the same old booze.

Guitar Pro version up! With it you can listen to the tab being played, slow it down, and edit it to your heart's content!

Several corrections have been made, most around the end.

If anyone finds any more errors, please point them out ASAP! I'll correct them, and you'll get credit for your corrections. :)

If I had my guitar with me I'd try it out, but thanks for putting this together! I guess this is a stepping stone for having player remixes of the main themes.

The next step to the aforementioned player remixes is a MIDI redub.  Any chance of that?

It's just exported from TuxGuitar, but it's MIDI. Anyone who wants to try a redub can start from there.

Hehe, sure thing. You can have it on any instrument; Open the Guitar Pro file in TuxGuitar, click on the instrument type at the bottom, (It's at Nylon Str Guitar currently) transpose as needed, then print the score out. Let me know how it goes if you really want to attempt it. :)

LucasUP begins a mysterious construction!
LucasUP has created FutureOfTheFortress.mp3, a terrible science fiction instrument re-assignment of the Dwarf Fortress theme, made in five minutes with FL studio.
It is decorated with corn. It menaces with spikes of sleep deprivation.

It does sound a bit odd in places, but it wouldn't be out of place in a video game. ;D

Wow I like that version. MIDI music is so good at sounding like old video game music. I feel a deeper appreciation of the music in the game after hearing it switched to another medium.
