Radiated thong
Menaces with spikes of pitchblende
What do you mean, sterile?

An army approaches
Many elves are attacking soon
Blood for the blood god

True, but at a certain velocity the resulting explosion expels invader-bits at fatal speeds. You don't want to be dropping trogdolyte-shaped shrapnel bombs into your boneworks.
Only in Dwarf Fortress...

The bugles sound off
But no one arrives to train.
What have I done wrong?

An ambush!  Curse them!
Halberdier breaks through the line;
Soldiers in pursuit.

The few still conscious
Watch their limbs soar through the air
And fight on with stumps.

In our own Great Hall
The goblin drinks Dwarven blood.
Build a gate next time.

So Ledi's been training the cats into an army of disposable warbeasts?  Why did no-one think of this sooner?!
Hellcannon seemed to be constantly on the verge of death and Levergedon before my turn helped, but ultimately what killed it was Ledi's cat army.

The Countess is sad
None of her demands were met
Water's at her neck

Make peace with the elves
Let them come and dine with us
Then lock all the doors

Mouth of the chasm
Giant arachnid attacks
No survivors left

Behold the bright sky
The chirping birds and fresh air
I need to vomit

Tamed a wolf today
At least that's what they told me
It killed my daughter

Come here kitty cat
Uncle Urist needs yer bones
Good kitty kitty

Behold.
The power of a Dwarven Haiku.

Kittens in the well!
In the rooms, the shops, the food!
Kitten roast? Yes please!

A challenge for you; If I may:
Write a haiku poem (OR MORE) which sums up your recent/favourite Dwarf Fortress moment/s!

The regular format for a Haiku is as follows:
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables
es
GO FORTH AND CREATE SOME CRINGINGLY DWARVEN POETRY!

This is a common misconception. The real haikus are 5/7/5 kana, which are different from English syllables. Also, many haiku poets seem to break the stream these days, making 6/6/6, 7/5/5, 5/3/5 etc. haikus. They also commonly contain a seasonal reference, and have a juxtaposing first or last line that is still a part of the poem, but is slightly disconnected. Instead of postraying emotions or series of events, haikus are like photographs; they capture a single moment, beautiful in its simplicity.

Just thought you'd like to know.  ;)

But of course! Thank you lordnincompoop for your input.

Pretty sure ANYTHING goes now. Just give it a poetic twist!
Also: Ledi is the most awesome contributer at the moment. Who shall dethrone Ledi?
