Dwarven Haiku? Not For The Weak Hearted!
« on: April 17, 2010, 10:00:32 am »

Behold.
The power of a Dwarven Haiku.

Kittens in the well!
In the rooms, the shops, the food!
Kitten roast? Yes please!

A challenge for you; If I may:
Write a haiku poem (OR MORE) which sums up your recent/favourite Dwarf Fortress moment/s!

The regular format for a Haiku is as follows:
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables

GO FORTH AND CREATE SOME CRINGINGLY DWARVEN POETRY!

Elves have come to trade

A dwarf's unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible has always astounded me. We long for a caring Fortress which will save us from our childish mistakes, and in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary we will pin all our hopes on the slimmest of doubts. Gold has not been proven not to exist, therefore it must exist.

And then it's pretty much a normal fortress from then on.
I find the idea of a normal fortress amusing.

What do you really need to turn Elves into Dwarves? Mutation could make them grow a beard; insanity effects could make them evil-minded, aggressive, tree-hating cave dwellers, and instant, full necrosis of their lower legs could make them short.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

Goblins dead, pick up their junk
An ambush, curse them!

Oh what is that glow?
I had some dwarves here, there...
Where did they all go?

You go; kill that thing.
Not there! What are you doing?!
I will learn this yet...

Nobles will live high,
Above all, in brittle glass,
Over calderas.

A soft rain drips down
The trees whisper in the wind
Sounds eclipsed by screams

Sizzle, sizzle! Oh,
How I love the magma flow.
Bake in your armor!
