though this post will get me subscribed to this thread, I wanted to say that while some feminist groups will disagree with me, I think it's a good thing more attractive boobs (and other tasty curves) are on the internet. They don't interest me in their product whatsoever but they are infinity better than ads with sounds, animations or god forbid, epilepsy triggering, flashing parts.

First there was spam. Which probably only worked for Viagra.
Then those horrible pop-up ads. Some idiots thought that annoying your customers would make them notice them better.
Then the really bad sound, etc, etc ads.

Now the boobs. But boobs have been used for advertising for a really long time. I mean look at sports magazines, ice cream, loans, burgers, whatever.. they're accepted outside the Internet. Evony realized that it works very well on the Internet, which is like hunting grounds for boobs.

Even worse, there's all these people who loved Evony's business model and created lots of crappy games with 80% focus on advertising. I don't really mind them though. They take money from the stupid and give it to the less stupid.

Well the only Evony adds I've seen recently actually advertise it as a city builder. I haven't seen any with boob in for a while.

Well, the thing is, these are ads made entirely of boobs. There's almost nothing else. At least in other media, boobs are mostly only a part of the ad.

In the words of the late lamented Gobbo, the only time boobs would come into play in Dwarf Fortress is when they're being lopped off.  Sure, they're more portable that way, but it's not exactly a gripping advertisement.

If they feel the need to resort to such measures to gain users, then it is a sure sign that either someone actually wants those advertisements for themselves(most likely someone who would be present during the making of the ad), or that they feel that their game just isn't good enough on it's own.

It is a sign of weakness, that can either be fixed through improving the product(if the problem is a bad product), or by hiring Dogbert to remove unnessecary upper management(and leave any good ones) who only want the ads so that they can have the hi-res "preview" version without text.
