Hum di hum di hum... Tried the .exe , Just makes a generic windows error noise and nothing starts, no error ar anything tho, the process only runs for about half a second =/

Well, if ya have no fix don't worry, but if you have any ideas i would be willing to try =]

Edit:
Very odd, I decided to try to reselect what program to open the .jar file with, it already had the proper thing selected, but i clicked another one then went back and selected the one it was supposed to be on again, and it all works now.

haha, the strange things computers do  :o

glad you could get it working! that would have been a bummer

EDIT: gah, it seems the exe isn't working (though it did at home, odd); I was in a hurry so I guess I messed something up there

I linked this topic in the Weekly Wambler thread in DF General Discussion.  Hope you don't mind.

certainly not, Chromafort enjoys any publicity she can get. thanks!

Java is an odd beast.

it all works perfectly fine on your native machine but as soon as you release anything strange things start to happen

so much for its proposed unconditional compatability

Awesome. The last piece of the puzzle. This is the first working method I've ever seen of converting bitmaps to digging designations.

Maybe if Microsoft had continued support for it, we might not be in this mess.  Instead they went off to create their own version which ... "works perfectly fine on native windows, but as soon as you release it on other platforms strange things start to happen."   ;D

alright, update added to OP

it makes things a lot easier/friendlier and also adds a few features, so even if you've already downloaded the 4/20 release I urge you to update

I have NOT tried this yet, but am very interested. Are there picking options for color coding? (I would personally not know what to type to get it to dig a downward stairway)

no; the important thing to understand about Quickfort is that it runs independently of DF (beyond detecting that it is running and in the foreground)
all it does is 'type out' a series of characters, which translate to DF commands. this means that, even if toady changes the hotkeys, all you have to do is change what's in your csv, with no need for a QF update

to add picking options would be to lose that compatability

fortunately, QF really does just read out hotkeys verbatim, so all you need to know is the DF hotkeys and you should be all set
for example, to build a wall (hotkey shift+C -> w) you would just type into the corresponding cell "Cw"

that said, I recommend on the download link that you understand the basics of QF before using CF
besides, you need quick for chroma to be of much use

edit: I have no affiliation whatsoever with QF, nor do I know absolutely how it works as I have never seen the source

Any chance of releasing the source?  I have some thoughts on some modifications I'd like to make, and writing an app (including the UI) from scratch is not something I look forward to...  :)

ah, yes, I was wondering if anyone wanted it

I'd be glad to tidy it up a bit and put a link up, stay tuned

Bmp's that are not perfectly square give Chromafort problems, the csv's turn out all wrong.
