I've been looking at the LCS source code to see if it's easy to modify. So far I have done the following:

• When Activating liberals, you can equip them without having to form a squad first (eg, so you can give your street performer a guitar).
• Game records how much money each person made from their activities yesterday, so you know when your guitar player is making under $2 a day.
• Added a confirmation so you can no longer sell all your weapons with a single button press.
• When forming a squad, you can look at the details of a liberal before adding them.
• You can see the selected squad's name on the main page.
• Change to how teaching works - cheaper, but if trying to teach too many people at once, the effectiveness goes down.
• More chance of a place going 'high security' if you steal all their stuff.

Does anyone like the sound of these changes?
To get the code, I downloaded something called a GNU tarball from http://lcsgame.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/lcsgame/trunk/ and managed to unzip it, but I have no idea how to share my code with anyone else. Are there any FAQs I should know about?

Though I can't offer much on the technical side or FAQs or whatnot, I will say I like some of the changes you made to the code - equipping them w/o squad, a WARNING confirmation before weapon selling, and seeing the Squad's name on the main page. This sounds like something you should talk about with the folks who have been maintaining the latest versions of Liberal Crime Squad, like J.S. Fox.

More changes I've made:

• You now get told what you're picking up.
• More interesting things to find: weapons, clothes, etc.
• An easier victory condition option can be picked at the start: Laws must be at least half elite-liberal and the rest must all be liberal.
• Added classes at the university – can study specific subjects if you pay cash.
• Make the security more secure in the upscale apartments to discourage you from robbing them every day.
• Using colour to make the flow of battle clearer – red for bad things, green for good.
• Dating tweaks – bonuses for having things (skills) in common. More variety in description of things going wrong when you date lots of people at once.
• Your slogan occasionally appears in newspaper headlines, dying words, etc.

Downie did PM me and we've exchanged a couple of messages. He's been added to the Sourceforge project, and assuming he has time, his changes should end up making it into the SVN trunk within a few days. His changes should also make it into in the next release... whenever that happens. ¬.¬
