I like instrumental music that fits, personally. Sometimes I play rock during sieges.

instrumental/electronic stuff tends to fit well

for ambience, I listen to a lot of boards of canada, and aphex twin is perfect for intense fortressing

actually, I can't think if anything that aphex twin isn't perfect for...

I listen to UltraJMan's LP of I Wanna Be The Guy. The profanity and anger are beautiful and truly capture the spirit of my forts.

I tend to prefer instrumentals  or celtic-newage stuff, when playing, lately i've been listening to some soundtracks. Currently I have Wolf's Rain, Blackhawk Down, and The Last Unicorn on my playlist. I think I may seek out some of the songs/artis on listed here.

If I listen to music during play, it usually has to fit with what I'm doing at the time.
For example, when there is a siege, I listen to We are the legions by Battlelore, or if I'm ending a fortress spectacularly I'll listen to Mozart's Dies Irae.

Mozart's Dies Irae.
Born Anew sounds purposely familar to this.
Not counting that the boss actually has an ability called Dies Irae. . .

Whatever stand-up comedy I can find. When I listen to music, it's in the car.
