Cazador, I am sorry to disturb ye while carving down all our stocks. But those stairs... I think we should close them off with hatch covers. That will increase our safety and the forts splendor! May I go on a create some of those and distribute them over the staircases?

Well, I got to use the hospital today.

On our mechanic.

I haven't quite figured it out yet; if this is Doc getting his revenge, it should be known that he actually is delaying my anti-elf deathtrap.

curses! A Kobald snuck past our traps and interupted Urist as he was making the final connections for our Elf Drowning trap. He cut Urist's hand open. The Doc took a convenient 'break' at that moment. I don't think he quite gets the concept of drowning traps requiring a mechanic in order to swiftly kill the elves. If he doesn't patch up Urist's hand soon, we may have to bear trading with the Elves again...

...

"I'm surprised."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, our previous caravan to the dwarven colony came back alive. I was expecting them to be slaughtered, so we could launch an invasion in accordance to the accords."
"I see. Send them again. Hopefully, the dwarves give in to their urges and kill them on the spot!"
"Right. The only thing stopping us from sending our assault are those blasted interracial law committee. To boot, they are plaguing our beautiful waterfall!"

...

The elves came again. We were not prepared for their caravan, and were forced to trade for their animals once again. Much to Doc's fury, as Urist's hand was still undressed and of the same colour as his title. Right now, we are trying to get him our so he recovers naturally.

Also, Arni appears to be hanging out around the farms more recently, usually returning with a blush on his face. Hmmm...

I'll be Xvareon Uristumid (Daggerfall), Engraver, Male.  I favor order over chaos, trying to keep everything looking nice and orderly.  I'm also big on safety, trying to keep fortresses airtight against incursion.  Calm demeanor, well-spoken, *HATES* forgotten beasts.

hmmm. Well, you see, I already have a dwarf who is an engraver; but she's female. Would you be ok with having a female dwarf?

Edit: in fact, I only have 4 dwarves who are male and untaken; a miner, a clothier, a farmer, and a baby (and the baby would cause you to lose the last name)

I propose a compromise on the elven merchant situation. We don't kill them, but we don't trade with them either. We ignore them. We let them into the depot, and we just let them sit there until they get bored and leave. They'll be an effective early-warning system against gobbo ambushes if it comes to that.

I'll take the baby if it was born in the fort, otherwise I'll take the first child born.  Leave the name whatever it is, or change it to whoever the parent's lastname has become.

Professon:  The Chosen One?

Backstory:  Born on a night with a blood red comet in the sky, earthquakes, animals born with several heads, vocanos erupting, etc.   The baby is believed to be the one to fulfill an ancient prophesy written in blood.  If true the child will either destroy the dwarves or cause a new empire to rise.

I'm fine with being a female dwarf, then.  Same personality, also has an interest in underground vegetation.  Still hates forgotten beasts, though.  As for name, Felsi is fine since Xvareon probably wouldn't work for a female.
