That's why I love it. Things like the dogs becoming playable characters as soon as animal rights laws are elite liberal; it reflects this idea that things would be so different if only the government would legislate appropriately, and demonises what will happen if laws become conservative. You play the game through the fantasies of a diehard liberal; everyone in law enforcement, scientific labs, business environments, etc. is a conservative, while all the downtrodden are oppressed liberals. The conservatives are considered complicit in everything, no matter how menial their job is, and murder is only ever chastised in the newspapers if the person you kill is not a conservative. Essentially, LCS is what the unhinged liberal imagines would happen if only they dared to fight back.

LCS is very consciously Hollywoodized. You used to even be able to blow heads off with a .22 revolver or slice their body in two with a shank. Though it puts on airs of being realistic, many things in the game actually make very little sense if you take a moment to reflect on them.
We're allowed to do that because its a satire. :D

And this is exactly what I love about this game. It has this somewhat serious, realistic feeling, until you take a closer look and notice how hilarious it is.

Animals are people too.

Perhaps there should be the evolution vs. creationism issue, with the L+ setting being "People are animals too"...

See, that's the thing about LCS that almost becomes disturbing. When I got Animal Rights up to L+ and discovered I could get animals into the LCS, my first thought was, without any irony:  "Well, that makes sense."

Followed shortly after by: "Wait, that dosen't make any sense at all! Why did I consider that reasonable?!"

I was also quite surprised to learn how many things in LCS are connected in this weird fashion. For example, if I recall correctly, Arch Conservatives are male most of the time (no big surprise) but have an elevated chance of being actually women identifying as men when the country has conservative women's rights. I guess the only way for a woman to become a Conservative Evil Overlord under those circumstances is to dress up as a man.

By the way, I'm surprised that LCS doesn't keep track of people's races (well, LCS the Crime Squad wouldn't, but LCS the game should). This way the conservatives could, for example, bar the gentlemen's club and other areas from coloured (unless they were accompanied by their owners and they were wearing a slave's uniform).

Wasn't there a religion issue a while back that was similar to this?  Whatever happened to that, anyway?

I haven't got a clue, really, being relatively new to LCS (been playing for a year now). However, I don't think the LCS would raid churches, as LCS tolerates other people's beliefs. Instead, they would attack the place where people are FORCED to read Bible and pray - BIBLE CAMPS (or conversion therapy camps if gay rights are conservative)! There, they would face various camp personnel, free imprisoned children and kill the Evil Conservative Priest forcing his faith on the innocent!

Were this to happen, I'd like to see the Conservative Christians as a faction of their own (like the corps and secret service). Perhaps they could send Crusaders equipped with swords to fight the LCS!

I don't know why it was taken out, but I believe that the Religion issue served the same role as the Elections issue does right now (the issue is affected by how 'liberal' or conservative' a society is, in general). There was no sites where you could actually affect Religion, and the clerics are 'cultural sleepers' that affect everything anyway. I think it was taken out because the Religion issue would be boring without any site where one can directly impact the issue.

As I said, we could tie religion issue to an outskirts Bible Camp. I don't think we absolutely need the religion issue, but forced conversion is very conservative and conservative fanaticism is hinted at at several places, so it would only be natural to have it.

Guys? I hate to kill the creative Liberalisim that's going on here, but this is still Ronin's mod thread. Perhaps the ideas on reimplimenting the religious issue should be brought to the suggestion thread?

He wanted weapons, we're just suggesting the "derail gun".  Like the Rail Gun, but significantly more awesome, lol.

But in all seriousness, that is a good idea.
