You open the door and walk outside. The sun shines brightly down on the cracked pavement. A mail truck roars by, trailing letters that blow away into the wind. Houses stretch seemingly endlessly on either side, echoing with suburban life.

It is just yet another day in the empty, meaningless void. You don't know anyone here. You've never met anyone outside of the people at the stores you go to, whom you smile glassily and nod while they make smalltalk, until they finish bagging your groceries and you can leave. You don't even know the names of your neighbors, or the man who lives in the house right behind yours. You don't know where anything is except the bank, your work, and a few groceries. You don't feel at home here, or anywhere that you've lived.

Hallway
This is probably the best kept room in your house because you spend so little time in it. The floor is also carpeted but not so grimy or flat. There is a suitcase up against one wall. The door outside is closed and the blinds are closed. There are a few hooks by the door. The hallway continues down into three more doors.
Obvious exits: kitchen, bathroom, living room, out.

It's your travel suitcase. You're not going anywhere any time soon, so it is empty. But if you were, it would be full of all sorts of wondrous travel accessories like a toothbrush, a comb, and clothing.

Bathroom
The bathroom has a very faint aroma of cat urine. There is a litterbox in one corner. There is a bathtub with a showerhead and curtains, and a sink with a medicine cabinet plus mirror above it, and a toilet. There are a few towels on a rack. There is a small shelf in the shower with some toiletries. There are a few cabinets under the sink.
Obvious exits: out.

You have a dead-end job at a cubicle farm. It brings in just barely enough money to keep you alive, and your bosses rip you off constantly.
