War Torn! (NEED A FRIGGIN' BRITISH PLAYER!)
« on: May 09, 2010, 02:19:31 pm »

Welcome to War Torn
The WWII nation roleplaying game.

This is War Torn, a WWII roleplaying game where you play as a country. You will amass an army, build defences and destroy your enemies. Warning: This game isn't balanced properly yet, so some nations may be incredibly imba.

How to Play:
You will start off with a country, you will name the country, pick it's nation and it will be placed on the map for you. When you pick a nation you are picking the play style you will use throughout the game; British are great pilots and infantry, Germans are good with tanks, Soviets are good in numbers and the Italians are all rounders. The game will run in turns, every turn each player makes a post and at the end of each turn everything is carried out in the the order that it was posted. You get a certain number of actions per turn depending on how many cities you have, each city gets you one action. Your actions let you build things, attack enemies, etc.. Here is a general list of how many actions it take to do things:
 - Upgrade/found a settlement: 1 action
 - Build a bunker: 1 action
 - Build a wall (You can only build one of these): 3 actions
 - Train a 2 light infantry teams: 1 action
 - Train a 2 heavy infantry teams: 2 actions
 - Build/train crew for a light tank (e.g. Fcm 36): 1 action
 - Build/train crew for a med tanks (e.g. M4 Sherman) : 2 actions
 - Build/train crew for a heavy tank (e.g. Tiger I): 3 actions
 - Build/train crew for an aircraft: 1 action
 - Build/train crew for an AA gun: 1 action

Each unit will have 6 stats: anti infantry (used to kill infantry), anti tank (used to defeat tanks), anti aircraft (used to defeat aircraft), defense (used to defend from enemies) and cost (how much it costs (in some universal currency which doesn't exist in our universe).

Defending Your Nation:
Of course, you may well be attacked by enemy forces, this means that you need a way to defend yourself. You can use an action to build a bunker, this allows you to store units in a city. The type of units in a city doesn't matter as long as they are there, just having some guys in a bunker gives you a chance of being saved. When eing attacked your opponent has a 1/2 chance of destroying one level of your city or it's defenses. A wall counts as a level of defense that does not need to be manned, a bunker counts as a defence if it has someone in it. Enemies must break through your defence before attacking the main city.

When an enemy breaks through your defences every succesfull attack degrades the city by one level.

Earning Resources:
Units cost resources, and to get resources you need cities. Upgrading or founding a new city costs 200 resources. Everylevel of city you own gets you twenty five resoruces per turn. There are three levels of city: village, town and city. eg: A player owns a city and a town, that's (25*3) + (25*2) per turn.

Attacking Enemies:
Each your battalion is listed on the map, it can move an inch in any single direction every turn. When you come into contact or cross paths with an enemy battalion you commence battle. If someone intentionally attacks an enemy they get a 10% bonus to their defence, otherwise the two armies fight as normal. I won't disclose the exact mathematics as to how combat works but it is fairly realistic. You can also attack enemy cities, this works as detailed in earning resources.

This
Looks promising indeed. Could I choose, for example, the Netherlands? (And be killed very quickly, of course.)

For the sake of simplicity (which I have already failed in... ) I'm sticking to the four nations, but you could choose the Italians as that seems to be the closest match.

Hmm.. I'm sure there's others that are far more able to represent the Italians than me.

The nations just affect your special rules/play style/etc. , you are not meant to represent that country (although you could if you wanted) as the name of the nation is just a fancy name, you can think of them as Infantry Nation, Tank Nation, Horde Nation and All Round Nation if you want.

This looks awesome. I'd get the Italians, I guess, though I'd really rather have Germany. Dibs-callers. :(
