Running Dwarf Fortress on a Mac

How do you do it? I feel pretty dumb for even asking but I'm not sure what to do. Sorry if someone asked this already but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Install WINE.  Run it in WINE.

It's not working in WINE. Maybe I have an old version or something? I downloaded the new one for mac today and can't get it to run.

If you downloaded the one for Mac of course you don't need WINE.  WINE runs windows programs.

Which brings me to my original question: how do I run dwarf fortress on mac? I'm talking about the mac one.

Currently, you have to run it via command line.  The old 40d# versions worked this way, too.  Go to /Applications/Utilities and open Terminal, and type the following:
cd /[Directory]/[Directory]/[etc]/df_osx
(or whatever you've called the folder)

And then sh df to run DF itself.

Bit of a hassle, yeah, but it's better than nothing and he'll presumably fix it at some point.  And yeah, Toady should probably document it better, since it has been a while since it was first mentioned.

I think the mac version comes with a terminal script to run it, 40d did, and the new linux one does. Look for a text file ending in .sh

Thanks guys, I got it. Actually I did it before on the old version but forgot how and couldn't find where it said, so I don't feel bad for posting this thread.

Thank you all.  I was similarly confused since I had never done any of the 40d#, just the 40d which had the bundled-in app to deal with such things.

I've just gotten it to run and have fired up arena after seeing what I needed to do. :D
