Diagonal rewalling

(1/1)

Behrooz Wolf:
Dwarves should be able to re-wall standing on a diagonal square.  This becomes much more of an issue when trying to build water-tight above-ground constructions.  ;) As it is, doing this tower layer requires two stages:code:

Pain in the butt. :P

JT:
Seconded.  If they can walk through and dig through diagonals, they should also be able to construct things through them.On the other hand, Nethack had an interesting solution: you can't go through diagonals if you're "burdened", because your pack is too thick to fit through the narrow opening.  So it might not be possible to haul stone or other such things through diagonals.  Of course, that's a pathing nightmare, so I say it should simply be supported consistently.

Behrooz Wolf:
In an ironic twist, you can designate things to be built behind a diagonal because the pathing says there's a route to the materials available, but the dwarves can't actually reach it, so it stays unbuilt until you remove one of the adjacent walls for access.
