You really want something to unnerve, scare and disgust you? Something combining lovecraft with with the detracted sickening wrongness of Palahniuk tale?

Saya No Uta or Song of Saya

it will fuck your mind inside out and you won't be able to stop watching. Its a visual novel and there's an english patch floating around. Beware, it is very adult, in practically every way you can imagine. The best way I can describe it is Silent hill mixed with a lovecraftian tale mixed with Lolita as written by ed gein.

Soundtrack is here

BTW, this is you

Gore ≠ scary.
While the visual novel itself may, in fact, be scary, that picture is not.
You may want to spoiler it though.

You guys consider that gore? I consider that about as much gore as I consider a steak gore. Also, I didn't intend to show it as "scary" since a truly scary image is hard to come by. It was more just something to make people curious as to what the hell is going on.

I've heard of Saya no Uta and the basic premise intrigued me, but I don't want to look at any visual novels that have sexual content.

As a result I've never tried a visual novel. :/

Oh well.

All art is inherently sexual

Admittedly the japanese always seem to push the limit

I dunno, maybe Event Horizon?

As a kid I remember reading a couple stories that scared me, but really, the stories themselves never managed to scare me that bad unless there were freaky illustrations as well. Nothing I can visualize myself ever bothers me that much, somebody else has to draw it for it to scare me. I think "The Telltale Heart" was one that scared me.

The scariest piece of fiction I can recall is a single line from Silent Hill 3. I suspect anyone who's finished the game knows exactly which one.

Apart form that, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and The Shadow over Innsmouth sacred me pretty bad. So did The Amityville Horror, until I found out is was a hoax. (I dind't believe it, but now I can't help but laugh.

Actually, I was fooling around with this conversation AI thing, they have a website and your conversation with the program teaches it what responses are appropriate. Well, suffice to say our conversation went down an existential and dark road, and the AI threatened to kill me and indicated that it would happen "right now". Freaked me out, until I realized that some bastard taught it that as a joke! It was awesome.

(I was on the site around 2 AM, all the lights were out, and nobody was around)
