Yup, no mining for stone.  Note: you CAN chop down trees and trade for wood, unless you're doing no trading.  I'm gonna say the megaproject can use 200 "building material", I'll change that.

Thanks, that'll make my tentative plan possible to start!  I'll have an update (hopefully amusing) in a few hours.

awesome.  Well, I'm going to bed :/  If you're doing all three, sounds like getting enough booze will be impossible, but good luck!

Welp, failure's fun, isn't it?  Report tantrum spirals and try again as needed, right? ;D

Picked a calm area, happens to be hot, heavily forested and thick with shrubs.  Has a brook and terrain is mostly tropical moist broadleaf forest with a small patch of tropical freshwater swamp.  4x4 playing area.

Storyline blather, for any interested

Are the noble jobs allowed to other dwarves, or butler alone?

noble jobs are fine as they don't require labor turned on.  I always considered them lesser than haulers anyways ;)

So by allowing immigrants to be drafted, does that mean all military things are allowable for them?  Training, patroling, sentry duty, etc.

sure does.  Now equipping them with proper gear you might find is a bit more difficult ^^

Might be interesting to try this from annother direction; starting seven are as normal, but everybody else can do NOTHING besides social labors; they can't have any working nobility (Manager, chief medic, etc, must be one of the first seven), they can't even haul- and no replacing any of those seven.

If this was the case, the winner might be the one who had the oldest fortress before everybody dies.

Hmm.. possibly.  It does sound more butlery to be a hauler. Hrm.  I'll add it as a variation for separate scoring.

Who cares about proper gear?  I'll equip them all with bone helms and greaves in my no-trade, wood and glass mega-saguaro shaped all-surface fort.  Maybe they will get leather cloaks too.

Figured we'd get the masochists for this one haha.

Alright, the seven butler... (removed, see below post).

Anyways, having said that, I've started my own single butler.  I'll probably give an update tomorrow :)  I feel a bit guilty selling a single steel serrated disc for several hundred units of booze and plants.  But meh, they're just stupid elves ;)

And actually, just ignore the scoring system for the single butler.  We'll have "official" winners, but we'll have some "winning with style" forts of course, like if said glass fort above actually survives with max population.

Nevermind the tower bit, I have the PERFECT idea for the 7 dwarf variation, cause for maximum insanity.  No scoring, it will be a matter of how long you survive, or how crazy you want it to be with additional challenges of your own.

Rules:

A)7 dwarves with labors/military,etc
B)Your masters are EXTREMELY PICKY.  They will not dine in a dining room unless it is legendary and only theirs only, no overlap.  They will not sleep in a bed unless it's legendary and theirs only, no overlap.
C)Regardless of what their personality says, your masters are utter snobs and hate socialising.  Each master is set to his own burrow.

My fort's backstory:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

For some reason, I think I'll enjoy this challenge.  :P Specially with the terrifying freezing fortress I'm embarking on. Did I mention I'm taking the no trade/no dig challenge?
