Lava lakes

Giant lava lakes. Obviously these are a major item on a world. What players would want to do is pour water over the lava and then dig on what it cools. Imagine how awesome that would be. Or, they could make a giant fortress with lava traps and not have to worry about the limited amount of lava.

In a fantasy sense I could see giant lava wastelands. Yet I would rather have it in a underworld. Where the whole world map is underground. Possible when different planes or dimensions are implemented. Rather then water oceans, its lava. Water being the rare commodity instead. Then I could make a civilization of dwarfs like in final fantasy 4. Need tanks though.

I'd like to see us STRIKE THE EARTH until we reach the magma down there. Chasm wtf. They get magma heating for free and we cant dig past?

Lali-ho! (Wow its been awhile. Hope I got that right.)

I like the idea.  Might not even require an underworld, maybe you could embark near an erupting volcano and get surface lava lakes a few local tiles wide.

Or rivers of lava.

RUNNING RIVERS.

Imagine.

A lava aquifier would be kinda pushing it though.

I was thinking of a map were there was nothing but chasm below, like a floating island and you could channel huge chunks of it off as a way of killing invaders.

What about lava rain? Or lava boats, lava swimming skill, lavafalls and lavawheel?
And don't forget fishing in the lava. It would include !!carp!! Armok usually talks about.

a) Yes, you got it right. (In FF9 they had two tribes of dwarves if I recall, one said "Lali-ho" and the other said "Rally-ho," and I wondered how the heck the Japanese audience could tell the difference...)

b) Dynamically allocate extra levels as you dig a deep shaft. Drill to magma...

Thermal Boreholes!

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

How come no one noticed that was a joke, triggered by the "A lava aquifier would be kinda pushing it though." sentence? >.>

The entire Earth has a lava (magma) "aquifer", between the outer crust and the hard core. Quite a challenge to dig through, I'd imagine.  :p

And a "Domain of Fire" has a nice ring to it. It would be WAAAAY down the development line, after at least magic and multiple planes are done.
