Dwarf Fortress > DF Dwarf Mode Discussion

Whoa, so that's what turning off "Periodically erode extreme cliffs" does...

<< < (2/5) > >>

C4lv1n:
I just downloaded stonesense, and it's trying to connect to DF now.

Eric Blank:
I got this in one fortress. I embarked on a coastline with mountains covering most of it and some hills way off in the corner. Since i turned the extreme cliff erosion off and the normal erosion down 50 cycles i got a 60-z (it's actually 21-25 for the initial cliff, 50 to the very peak, sorry) that recedes to a point only at the top, exactly what you described. Except the cliff was right next to the ocean. Would be awesome if I ever go back and begin the mega-project I had planned for it.

Here's the world gen:

and here's the location:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)I was really hoping to find a volcano on the waterfront. Unfortunately this site doesn't have magma pipes anywhere on it and the magma sea is deep, really, really deep at -100 z-levels from the waterfront, -180~ from the peak of the mountain. If you turned the erosion back to normal it might erode back out to the volcano though and you could conceivably get a volcano on the waterfront like I'd hoped.

Vattic:
Could you please post the world gen and location?

Fastler:
I would love to have the original world gen, and FYI Eric Blank, your location png doesn't exist. The picture may not have uploaded correctly or something.

With these maps, we could totally pretend that DF is still 2d.

Or, you know, do something awesome, like carve a stairway out the side of a shear cliff face, dig out the interior of the mountain, undergrotto-style.
