The 2 files over at mediafire are two archive formats, you can use whichever you want. (.7z or .zip)

If your aim is to play fortress mode, and not dwarf mode, get the advanced version.  DFhack contains some vital tweaks and fixes, that improve the game and lower late game lag.

Refuses to Backup???

I have my settings set to <Autosave: Seasonal> <Backup Saves: Yes> <Compress Saves: Yes> and it will not backup my saves. I was playing for hours on my best world so far. I had iron armor and everything, and when I tried to reload the save, it didn't work. It always just crashes saying: Dwarf Fortress.exe has stopped working. I can deal with my save being corrupt. I check for the autosaves and they are nowhere to be found. I have looked everywhere. I cannot find where my backups are placed, and because of that it seems like I have permanently lost my favorite world. Really disappointed, thought LNP was supposed to be the best manager for Dwarf Fortress. Unless if my backup names are completely different from everyone else's (regionX-season-year I'm pretty sure) then I've just lost all of this work. Can anyone help me? Where are your backups saved to?

Compressed saves are bad because it often corrupts data. I dunno about backups, but I also know that if you disable compressed saves, it saves each world to its own folder, with the save files in there if you're currently rocking a game. So that tends to be kosher.

Thanks for the help, it's too bad that the world was deleted because of that. Was such a great world! Anyways, I turned off compressed saves so it hopefully will help to prevent it from happening again. Where does it make its own folder to back it up to? I'm still not sure I'm getting any backups.

It worked! I played for a year and all 4 saves backed-up. That is not too smart of how he did that "compress saves" thing if it corrupts your world and prevents  backups.

Does this df.exe already have the binary patches?

Just read the comment above about advanced being suggested over regular if your just playing fortress (which I am).  Can you port the saves from regular to advanced? Or should I wait till I kill my fort and start new in advanced?

I'd really love it if Mayday's Graphical Pack was added to the Lazy Newb Pack, I don't see it in the graphics tab.

Mayday's should already be included, hm... Possibly it's only in the Advanced one? I don't remember...

You can probably copy your saves from the regular to advanced without any worries, just remember to use the same graphics here and there otherwise you'll have graphical glitches.

As far as I know, the version which contains DFhack does. The regular version is also likely to contain them.

If I am not mistaken I believe the latest version of LNP at the head of this thread does not contain the latest version of DFHack.  I noticed for example there were commands listed in Hack's readme website page that are not in the verison I got with the zip download of LNP.  When I found the binaries for r2 of Hack and copied/installed them I had those commands. Things like growcrops and having fastdwarf take two arguments instead of just one.

Am I crazy? Just mentioning. I'm a newb at even LNP hehe.
