you can get more info from the DFHack readme - it doesn't cover everything though, just the standard stuff.  Still a very useful page.

Hello, I have a little bug with LNP :
I'm on Manjaro (a sort of Arch Linux), and when I change my graphics, I click on "Install Graphics", then I'm asked if I'm sure, I answer "OK", and finally I'm asked if I want to update my savegames. But then, I get an unexpexted error :

Any solution ?

This is the thread for the old windows-only version; you want the thread for the cross-platform GUI.  (and I don't know of a solution, sorry)

Anyone know how I can delete dfhack and still use the LNP? The constant temptation to cheat is taking all of the fun (both fun an !fun!) out of the game.

In the Dwarf Fortress folder, there are files called "SDL.dll" and "SDLreal.dll" - these are plugins that are meant to control the graphics.  For dfhack, the plain "SDL" has been replaced with an imposter, and renamed "SDLreal".

SO:  to disable dfkack...
  1.  Rename "SDL.dll" to "SDLhack.dll"
  2.  Rename "SDLreal.dll" to "SDL.dll"
done!

I am on CrunchBang linux 3.2.0-4-486, and having installed the spacefox tileset, lnp asked me whether I'd want the saves updated.
I said yes and immediately received a crash message.

It asked me to post the stacktrace, here it is:

This is the thread for the outdated windows-only LNP - the Linux thread is over here; the stack trace is for the GUI, the thread for which is over here.

Thanks for taking the time to report bugs!

Suggestion: Put the "WINDOWS LNP THREAD ONLY" in nice, big, glowin letters just underneath the title in OP.

Not trying to be a jerk, just thinking it will save people frustration in the long run.

Actually, put a link to the correct thread(s) right underneath of that. Than they don't mispost so often, AND can easily post on the right one.

Unfortunately OP was last active in May, so it's not likely to change soon - all I can do is post at the bottom.

So:  this is the old LNP thread.  The new versions are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.  The new GUI asks you to post the error message; that goes in it's thread here.

I repeat - the LNP in this thread is more than a year out of date.  Look at one of the links above instead.

Hello guys. I think I have to apologize for my long absence.  :(

Yes it was my intention to let others work on and maybe eventually take over The Lazy Newb pack after I had released it open source. But It was NOT my intention to go dead silent for so long and have it be such a forced/jarring transition. I'm really sorry about that.
Of course other life responsibilities took me away from LNP, but I don't really have great excuses for why I didn't at least give you guys any updates on myself or re-direct you to other versions sooner, other than just my mind has been elsewhere.

Sorry for any frustration this has caused you guys, and I hope I haven't caused too much ill-will. I feel like a jerk and like I've just been trying to avoid confronting that. :(
I've updated the OP to link to the new Windows/Linux/Mac packages. If there's anything else you guys would like to see from me, I am happy to hear from you.
I do read and respond to my PMs too, if you wanted to say/ask me something in private.

Edit:

I just also wanted to say, on a more positive note, that I am really happy and proud to see how many people have cared enough about LNP to want to continue it and work on it. The fact that there is now working and regularly updated Win/Mac/Linux versions is really fantastic, and its something I would have never achieved myself. So, thanks to the DF community! You guys and girls are awesome.

There's nothing to apologise for - the Lazy Newb Pack got me into Dwarf Fortress, and open-sourcing it has seen beginner's packs flourish.  From myself and the ~450,000 others, thanks.

To avoid a similar scenario of packs dropping off in the future, can I suggest adding a link in the OP to the wiki page for Lazy Newb Packs?  Since anyone can edit it, the page should stay up to date for as long as the community cares to maintain a pack.

Lastly, post a notice to look in a newer thread (maybe with links) and lock this one.
