Wasn't there something that did this in earlier versions? Has it been updated or is it possible to update it to the current version?

Don't think of it as being besieged by thralls/husks, think of it as having your own personal moat of life hating mutilated menaces

Now wall yourself in quickly

You should be able to just take off the :P:R and it'll stop pausing and recentering

there is an image of the goblin Utes Gozrusrozsnus and dwarves in elf bone. The goblin is making a plaintive gesture. the dwarves are striking a menacing pose.

That'll teach me to preview before posting.  It interpreted the P as a smiley-face...

Isn't that a really, really bad idea?

It'd be good if there was some kind of way to bypass the tile-by-tile process though. Either a separate designation or just by making the game a bit smarter about detecting dangerous digging designations.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

Well it'll cancel and you won't know but later when you go to designate it again you can see which tiles are "hot" so just don't designate them.
